Gettin My Art Muse On!

I do find it extremely important for my Psyche to get in my local art dates
That would include going to other Artist receptions
Taking a class from another Artist from time to time
Sitting down with the latest issue of Quilting Arts mag and reading it from cover to cover
Or taking a trip to your local art Gallery with a friend and joining in on
An ATC workshop
see below

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Artist_trading_cards

I have never made an ATC. Seen a lot read a lot about it.
And now I am really liking it. Its really fun way to make a lot of small cool art! Then you get to trade if you want with other artists and it is so fun to see what other people make.
The best part is that it is no stress and you can totally chat it up while your creating.
I think I am going to put on a little ATC workshop of my own with some non
Arty friends of mine to let them feel some of the freedom!!!
You can always theme base it and if your not into the actual ATC thing then after you make them turn them into one of a kind miniature cards or just gift tags..

New endeavors on the Horizon lately.
While holding down two part-time jobs to pay bills.
Serving my family and church.
I still find time to squeeze in my Art goals.
My goal until the new year is to build a class schedule of sorts to offer to Galleries, scrap and stamping stores and private individuals.
So far I have 4 workshop's scheduled for the next few months in Escondido.
One of which is shown as an example in this photo above and below.

So I have been told this style of art I do is called Steampunk.
"I know I didn't know what it was either"
So when I read the description I was like, "OK, that's cool with me"
And now I am doing a series of works based on that style.
In addition I am creating workshops based on that style as well as the day of the dead art. I always love that stuff.
Please email me if your interested in finding out more details of workshops.
And as always you can purchase some of my smaller art with pay pal right from my web site

The Beach Bomb

I have been meaning to get to this post for two weeks now.
http://www.usopensandcastle.com/- Huge Sandcastle sculpture competition! Seen on the news over the years, gawked at the website from time to time. I have been meaning to see this for 10 years now and this year I requested the day off and told my family, "after church were doin this, or else"! So the time comes and we take our map and head out. An hour later were near. The traffic begins! 20 minutes after that we are finally now headed towards the ocean. Cars cars and more cars. Every street is packed with cars for 3-5 miles in every direction. ! An hour later I am egsausted and we finally find a parking spot. At this point I am saying "well I guess this is one reason why I have never done this in the ten years of curiosity" Whew! Now I am finally excited and reach for the camera-BUT hubby left it on all night so my lithium battery is DEAD! crap, but not to worry, teenager brought her camera! Hubby and I get in some stupid argument about I don't even remember, but I was totally
PMS' ing
and had no tolerance so I was sharp at the tongue I am sure.

So then we start our 2.5 mile walk toward the water with all the other masses of onlookers
And don't even think of crossing the street, you can forget it. No one will let you across and there are cars cars cars! So 5 minutes into the walk and I totally have to pee. And not just a little but I kinda have to go Niagara! So I try not to say anything and with each step its like my insides are sloshing about and ready to just fall out. I have a little peanut bladder you see. When I finally say something my family is like "oh gosh, here we go again, you just went" So I am trying to not let it slither down my leg with each step. To make things worse I have to hold my pants up with one hand because the button flew off!! Oh and did I mention that it was 87 frigging degrees with 60% humidity. Gross Gross Gross!!! So that totally added to the grumpiness of us all!

So every time we walk by an alley, I wince and grimace with temptation. I would totally pop a squat without looking back, done it before in more obvious locations. When I GOTTA GO I GOTTA GO! But my husband complains and says to me as he points to the cop car with people in the back..
"ah yea sure and end up like that for indecent exposure- no thank you...."
"Gosh where is your sense of adventure and besides I am pretty sure they have more pressing things to do at an event like this than arrest some middle aged, chubby mom who cant hold her water for goodness sake."
At this point I am totally ready to sprint down the next alley alone and just LET R RIP! When suddenly this little church arrives before my eyes. Members are under EZ ups selling waters and requesting donations. I scurry up to the table and try not to make a fuss
"um, yea, high god bless and all that ah, can I use your latrine perhaps?" Thank the Lord-Can I get an AMEN!!! I was peeing for like an eternity I swear it..
so anyway -Onward ho we go! pushing through the bourgeoisie of sorts and finally make our way to the Sand with the Ocean in site. Now I guess I had high expectations because when I started viewing I was a little bummed out to be honest. The news and the web page make these things look amazing and while some were pretty good, I was just left feeling let down a little. So we make our way through the crowds trying not to loose each other in the process, snap a few shots. Get our feet wet and move on to the street area for vendors and food. My husband purchased the largest sausage I have ever seen and ate the whole thing. My daughter snapped random photo's at unsuspecting victims and I was just happy I didn't have to pee anymore!

All and All I wouldnt have changed the day for the world

seriously- I couldnt resist!!!

The Plan!

You gotta love Robin Williams...
Even if he's nuts!
Leave it to Robin Williams to come up with the perfect plan. What we need now is for our UN Ambassador to stand up and repeat this message.

Robin Williams' plan...
(Hard to argue with this logic!)

'I see a lot of people yelling for peace, but I have not heard of a plan for peace.
So, here's one plan.'

1) 'The US will apologize to the world for our 'interference' in their affairs, past & present. You know, Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Tojo, Noriega, Milosevic, Hussein, and the rest of those 'good 'ole' boys', we will never 'interfere' again.

2) We will withdraw our troops from all over the world, starting with Germany , South Korea , the Middle East, and the Philippines . They don't want us there.
We would station troops at our borders.
No one allowed sneaking through holes in the fence.

3) All illegal aliens have 90 days to get their affairs together and leave. We'll give them a free trip home. After 90 days, the remainder will be gathered up and deported immediately, regardless of whom or where they are. They're illegal!!!
France will welcome them .

4) All future visitors will be thoroughly checked and limited to 90 days, unless given a special permit!!!! No one from a terrorist nation will be allowed in.. If you don't like it there, change it yourself and don't hide here. Asylum would never be available to anyone. We don't need any more cab drivers or 7-11 cashiers.

5) No foreign 'students' over age 21. The older ones are the bombers. If they don't attend classes, they get a 'D' and it's back home baby.

6) The US will make a strong effort to become self-sufficient energy wise. This will include developing non-polluting sources of energy but will require a temporary drilling of oil in the Alaskan wilderness.
The caribou will have to cope for a while.

7) Offer Saudi Arabia and other oil producing countries $10 a barrel for their oil. If they don't like it, we go someplace else. They can go somewhere else to sell their production.. (About a week of the wells filling up the storage sites would be enough.)

8) If there is a famine or other natural catastrophe in the world, we will not 'interfere.' They can pray to Allah or whomever, for seeds, rain, cement or whatever they need. Besides, most of what we give them is stolen or given to the army. The people who need it most get very little, if anything.

9) Ship the UN Headquarters to an isolated island someplace. We don't need the spies and fair weather friends here. Besides, the building would make a good homeless shelter or lockup for illegal aliens.

10) All Americans must go to charm and beauty school.. That way, no one can call us 'Ugly Americans' any longer.
The Language we speak is ENGLISH... learn it... or LEAVE...
Now, isn't that a winner of a plan?

'The Statue of Liberty is no longer saying 'Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses..'
She's got a baseball bat and she's yelling, 'You want a piece of me?'

North County Slugs

Ok so the thought of a reunion just makes me want to vomit. But when some people found me on facebook and had a local punk rock reunion for the town I went to high school in. I totally had to at least show up, RIGHT. So yea in the day I was a little on the punk-ee side. No I did not break the law or anything, although I am sure some of us did. Mostly the dudes. Most of us were from single parent family homes and graduated from the same continuation high school at some time or another. And we found each other. I was dating the pro-skateboarder for three years and we hung in the same crowd. After being picked on for most of my adolescents it seemed like a natural progression of sorts.

Martha-Me-Kerrie

I look high and Kerrie is making a dork face!

So I headed to the park in the 90 degree heat with oh I don't know 80% humidity!!! Yuck it was gross. Try looking your best in that, Yeah right. Anyway there was a part of me that almost didn't want to go. I really had not seen anyone in like 20 some years.
I have put on some poundage and didn't really want anyone to say to themselves "oh my Gawd, she used to be so small what the heck happened"
Although I fancy myself more popular than what rings true, one still has an inner self doubt from time to time.
Needless to say I did not stay long, I think it was less than an hour. People from L.A. -Texas-Sacramento-Fresno-Oregon were there and I live there and stayed like 45 minutes. I was too hot, sorry ...

Me-Michelle

we all look so normal, so funny really

Jeno-Leonard-Mike-Adam-Eva-Me

Eva who has not aged a day and yes she has two huge boys, freaking gorgeous woman inside and out.

Michell-Jay-Jim(brothers) Scott in the back-mike and his wife, who apparently remembers me and was in with out little group but I don't recall, feel sorta dorky for not remembering..
And just so you all know there were like 100 people there but we didn't really know any of them, they all came 4 years after us. strange right.
we used to call ourselves the North County Slugs. Everyone went out and got branded with a tat to prove it too!!! no not I.
It was short and sweet. I would have loved a more intimate setting with air conditioning..
